Everton assistant manager Erwin Koeman says Ashley Williams could make his debut this weekend against West Brom.
The defender now has a full week's worth of training under his belt since joining Everton from Swansea City last Wednesday.
“We will have to see because he started training very late after the Euros. He needed his rest," Koeman told evertontv.
“But he is experienced and knows everything about the Premier League, so we will see what happens this weekend.
“You saw that a lot of players who were at the Euros did not start the first game of the Premier League season. It's very tough for them because they needed a little rest.
“You cannot put a player straight into a game after a holiday because then he will get injured. That's not what we need."
