Everton believe they are close to agreeing a deal with Tottenham for out-of-favour winger Aaron Lennon, according to Sky Sports.

The 28 year old spent the second half of last season on loan at Goodison Park and Roberto Martinez is keen to take him there on a permanent basis.

The Toffees face a race against time to get the paperwork for the transfer completed before tonight's 6pm deadline but are confident they can get it done.

There is a strong possibility Lennon will carry out his medical in London to help get the deal over the line in time.
