Everton are eyeing Rennes defender Ramy Bensebaini.

The Daily Star says a source close to Bensebaini has revealed the Toffees are nearing a £13.3m (€15m) deal for the Algeria international.

The 23-year-old central defender, under contract until 2020, is expected to leave Rennes before the transfer window slams shut next month.

Everton face competition from Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart, who have enquired about his availability.

Bensebaini can also play at left-back or in defensive midfield so would add much-needed versatility to head coach Marco Silva's squad.
