Everton midfielder James McCarthy has suffered a fresh injury setback.
The Liverpool Echo says he has suffered a hamstring tear and is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks.
McCarthy was not named in the Blues squad for Saturday's trip to Burnley and now faces another spell on the treatment table.
The 26-year-old picked up a groin injury in August and underwent an operation.
McCarthy only returned to action for Everton as a late substitute against Manchester City earlier this month but is out again.
