Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana was delighted to score in victory over Sunderland.

After 35 top-flight appearances for Aston Villa and 21 for Everton, the Senegalese midfielder finally opened his scoring account on Saturday - and in stunning fashion.

“It was my first Premier League goal and I am happy," Gana told evertofc.com. “I am happy for the team because we won today and that was the most important thing. The blue shirt is good for me.

"The game was not easy because they have a good team and they defended very well. We just tried to find a place to score and we took our time moving the ball. We know we have a good team to score in every game and today we are happy to take the three points."
