Everton boss David Moyes was pleased with the performance of Apostolos Vellios in their defeat to Philadelphia Union.
The Greek striker, 19, entered the fray at half time and gave an encouraging performance at the focal point of Everton's attack.
Moyes said: "Tolis (Vellios) was probably the main positive for us and we ended up with two or three young players on the pitch and that was the positive for us."
Everton captain Phil Neville told evertonfc.com: "He was outstanding and it's funny really because I think he has found the conditions tough in training this week.
"Tonight he came on and was a real physical presence and caused the Union centre halves a real problem."
