Everton have made a move for Holland's Euro2008 star Orlando Engelaar.

De Telegraaf says Everton have made contact with the FC Twente midfielder's management about a move to the Premiership.

Engelaar has declared his preference is to join Schalke, but the Germans are struggling to meet Twente's £6 million asking price. Everton hope to convince Engelaar about a move to Merseyside before the conclusion of the Euros.
