Everton and Liverpool are battling for Birmingham City goalkeeper Maik Taylor.

The Birmingham Mail says Brum have offered 36 year-old Taylor a new two-year contract, while Everton have now been in touch with his representatives as they seek cover for Tim Howard after again securing European football for next season.

Similarly, Liverpool have been looking at Taylor as a back-up option for Pepe Reina with Scott Carson - who was loaned to Villa - likely to be sold.
