Everton legend Sharp rates Cahill as best of modern era

Former Everton star Graeme Sharp has labeled Tim Cahill as the club's greatest player of the modern era. Sharp, who was a prolific goalscorer for the Toffees throughout the 1980s, believes the Australian international has been the best player to grace Goodison Park in the past 15 years.

"Tim Cahill is Everton's best player in recent times, certainly from '95 I don't think there's been anyone better," Sharp said.

"Duncan Ferguson has legend status but I think Tim's up there with him and when Tim hangs up his boots, Evertonians will remember him fondly and he'll have legendary status."

Last weekend, Cahill notched up his 50-goal milestone when he headed home in the 2-2 draw with Blackpool and he will be looking to do more of the same when the Toffees host Arsenal this weekend.
