Everton legend Graeme Sharp feels his old club are widening the gap between themselves and Liverpool.

The gap between the sides is five points but it was as big as nine in the autumn.

"There was a spell when Liverpool were clearly on top but over the last few years that has slowly changed," said Everton legend Sharp.

"The question you can legitimately ask now is: 'How many Liverpool players would get into the Everton team?' The message will be simple from David. He'll just be telling the players to look after themselves. Finishing above Liverpool won't even be on his mind."
