Everton legend Peter Reid is a big fan of young defender John Stones.
The 19-year-old centre-half received his first senior England call-up on Monday when he was named as one of seven standby players for the World Cup in Brazil.
"I'm hugely impressed every time I see him," Reid told evertonfc.com. "I think he's a really top player now and I think he could grow into one of the greats.
"I like defenders who can come out and play, but, first and foremost, you must defend. And he smells danger. He smells danger and he defends well. That's where I've been impressed with him.
"I think Roberto Martinez deserves a lot of credit for sticking him in. More managers should stick young English players in, because what he's done is taken his chance."
