Everton land Chelsea's Atsu on loan

Everton have completed the loan signing of Christian Atsu from Chelsea.

The 22-year old Ghanaian winger has signed a season-long loan with the Toffees after passing a medical on Wednesday afternoon and securing the required UK work permit to allow him to play in England.

Atsu, who joined Chelsea last summer before spending last season on loan with Vitesse Arnhem, admitted his delight at gaining an opportunity to play first team football with the Goodison Park outfit.

"I'm very happy to be joining Everton because it's a great club, which likes to play football, and it's a great pleasure to be here," Atsu told evertontv.

"Playing in the Premier League has always been a dream for me and I have achieved that dream.

"This is the biggest level for me to play at. I know that it's a very competitive league and I believe with hard work we're going to be successful this season."

Atsu, who started in all three of Ghana's World Cup fixtures, becomes Everton's fourth summer signing following the permanent additions of Romelu Lukaku, Gareth Barry and Muhamed Besic.
