Everton keeper Howard hero in victory over Juventus

Everton enjoyed a penalty shootout victory over Juventus in the US this morning.

Tim Howard was Everton's hero as they beat Juventus on penalties in a pre-season friendly in San Francisco.

The American goalkeeper saved from Federico Peluso in sudden death to earn the Toffees a place in the final of the mini-tournament against either Real Madrid or LA Galaxy.

Kevin Miralles had given the Premier League side the lead after an hour but Kwadwo Asamoah equalised in the closing stages with a stunning left-foot drive.

Everton were much the better side for the most part and in Steven Pienaar had the game's most dangerous players.
