Everton keep watching brief on Feyenoord midfielder Fer

The Daily Mail reports Everton are closely monitoring the situation of young midfielder Leroy Fer, currently under contract with Dutch outfit Feyenoord. The Toffees are in the market for a new midfielder due to the ongoing uncertainty about the future of Mikel Arteta and Steven Pienaar, and boss David Moyes supposedly considers Fer to be a good replacement.

The 20-year-old is a product of the Feyenoord youth academy and made his debut for the Rotterdam side in December 2007. He has so far made 76 Eredivisie appearances, scoring nine goals in the process.

Everton are believed to be ready to make a €4.5 million bid for the Holland under-21 star.
