Everton hoping Cahill can return for Wigan clash

Everton will hope that Tim Cahill's week away with the Australian national team has him back to full fitness for this weekend's clash with Wigan. The Toffees are looking to consolidate their spot in the top 6 and if Cahill is back to 100% it will be a major positive especially in front of the Goodison Park faithful.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Brad Jones and Middlesbrough will be striving to keep a clean sheet at Bolton and stave off relegation for another week; a win would be ideal for 'Boro at Reebok Stadium.

Richard Garcia returns from international duty where he had a hand in one of the Socceroos goals and will be looking to score one of his own as the Tigers host Portsmouth at the KC Stadium.

A positive result would see Hull keep their distance on the drop zone.

The return of Newcastle great Alan Shearer to the managerial post should have a big impact on striker Mark Viduka who could well be the Magpies main man to keep them in the top flight.

They host Chelsea at St James' Park and desperately need to grab three points against Viduka's former boss at international level, Guus Hiddink.

Lucas Neill led a successful Socceroos side on Wednesday night will be hoping to emulate that feat by leading West Ham United to a vital win at home against Sunderland.

The Hammers are currently seven points behind Everton who are in sixth-place and need a win to be a chance of qualifying for next season's inaugural Europa league.

And fresh from a fifth clean sheet from the past five games for his nation, Mark Schwarzer faces the goal scoring power of Liverpool at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers will be determined to repeat their giant-killing efforts of their last Premier League outing where they knocked off league leaders Manchester United 2-0 where Schwarzer played a crucial role with some brilliant saves.
