Everton hero Neville: Sigurdsson deal could make difference

Former Everton captain Phil Neville believes moving for Swansea City attacker Gylfi Sigurdsson can make them contenders.

Everton have made a number of offers for Sigurdsson, the latest being a £40m one that was rejected though Swansea are open to doing a deal at the right price.

Neville said: “I think he is a good player and what you are buying with Sigurdsson is a player who provides a lot of assists.

Sandro Ramirez, the centre forward they have bought from Malaga, is a very good player though it will take him time to settle in.

“And with Wayne Rooney, it wouldn't surprise me if he goes and brings another forward in.

“Sigurdsson, the thing that worries me is the money, but he would provide assists.

“You look at Davy Klaassen, his record in Ajax in terms of assists and goals, Rooney; a proven goalscorer and assists, Ross Barkley if he stays as well.

“All of a sudden Everton have a really creative side. Add Sigurdsson into that, Everton could be one of the teams to watch this year."
