Former Everton midfielder Barry Horne says Sylvain Distin deserves a new deal.
Horne wrote in the Liverpool Echo: "On the back of a fantastic final day of the transfer window at Goodison, it looks like Roberto Martinez is preparing to do another great piece of business.
"He has hinted today that he is preparing to offer Sylvain Distin, a mainstay at Everton for so many years, an extension to his current deal, and what good news that is for Blues fans.
"Even as he approaches his 36th birthday, Sylvain remains one of the club's most powerful, pacy players, and one of Everton's most consistent performers."
