Everton hero Carsley backing Moyes for Galatasaray move

Former Everton midfielder Lee Carsley has backed David Moyes' move to Turkey.

The former Manchester United manager is in talks with Galatasaray.

Carsley wrote in the Liverpool Echo: "When I left Goodison as a player, I never wanted to play against Everton or in fact be put in that position given my feelings for the club.

"The Turkish league is very similar to Scotland in that you've got two or three teams who just head and shoulders above the rest. It's certainly not a level playing field, put it that way.

"Regardless, they're a Champions League side and for him to further his European experience is a fantastic opportunity.

"It will only help his progression as a manager. I know a couple of British-based players who have gone on to become managers abroad and I think it's benefited their careers immensely.

"In the position he is in, I can't see how the move wouldn't benefit him. That's in his current position, though. There may well have been offers from other Premier League clubs.

"But where do you go after Manchester United and Everton? Any other clubs are a step down and after his exit from United there is no clear step forward."
