Everton have handed trials to Jose Baxter.
The Sun says the 25-year-old has been given a second chance by his former club following his release from Sheffield United after testing positive for recreational drug use.
Baxter – who is the youngest person ever to represent Everton – was made the offer in January and has been working with the club on community projects.
The Toffees have handed Baxter, once touted as the next Wayne Rooney, a second chance with David Unsworth's Under-23 side.
If he impresses, then a deal with the first-team could be on the table.
