Everton are in contact with Granada for fullback Guilherme Siqueira.
Marca says Everton boss Roberto Martinez has identified the Brazilian as a replacement for Manchester United target Leighton Baines.
Everton are willing to pay €8 million plus bonuses based on appearances and success for Siqueira.
However, any deal will hinge on United meeting Everton's price for Baines.
