Everton boss David Moyes is chasing Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson.
The News of the World says the England Under-21 ace is available for around £5million, but Everton boss Moyes wants to wait until his contract is up in June so he can save money.
Johnson is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to talk to clubs this month - although a hamstring injury looks set to halt any move from the Riverside in this transfer window.
Middlesbrough would be due a developmental fee - set by a tribunal - for Johnson as he is under 23, but Moyes reckons that sum would be significantly lower than the winger's current valuation.
