Everton boss Roberto Martinez is chasing Heerenveen midfielder Hakim Ziyech.
The Mirror says Martinez revealed recently he had the 21-year-old Heerenveen midfielder watched several times in the closing weeks of the 2013-14 season.
And he is now ready to make a formal offer of around £2.5million to head off interest from Holland's two most powerful clubs.
Ziyech has emerged over the past year as the latest talent off the Dutch conveyor belt, and just missed out on making their full squad for the World Cup after starring for the U21s.
