Everton give up on pursuing Watford boss Silva

Everton have reportedly given up hope on trying to recruit Watford boss Marco Silva as their new manager.

Toffees majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has been trying for weeks to try and recruit Silva, however Watford are outright refusing to part ways at this point in time.

The Merseyside club are now resigned to the fact that they will have to look elsewhere to find a replacement for Ronald Koeman who was sacked following the 5-2 Premier League loss against Arsenal last month.

Everton made their first approach on 13 November and were willing to pay Watford £10 million in compensation for Silva who has no release clause in his contract.

After Watford's first refusal, the Toffees re-approached them and offered more than £10 million, however they again rejected.

The view at Everton is that unless Silva decides to resign, there is nothing much more that they can do.
