Everton fullback Oviedo: Man Utd winner made me fans' favourite

Everton fullback Bryan Oviedo admits his winner at Manchester United has made him a Liverpool celebrity.

The Costa Rican has been a revelation since stepping in for the injured Leighton Baines.

He told the Daily Express: "We went 21 years without winning at Old Trafford so to score the goal that ended that makes me feel very happy for myself, but also for the team and the fans.

"It was important for Everton. Amazing. Sylvain Distin put me on his shoulders at the end, but I was a bit scared. It was a long way down!

"Normally when I am out shopping in Liverpool the Everton supporters are very good to me. They say 'hello' but after the goal against United, I have noticed the fans have come up to me more and say, 'Well done, keep going'.

"We are working very hard to be in the top four and I think everyone in the country has had a nice surprise in Everton. We are playing very well and scoring goals. We have a very good team."
