Leighton Baines says he'll never take his success at Everton for granted.

Baines made his way back to Goodison Park after being jettisoned as a teenager.

He said: "Only a few days ago I was talking to someone about being released as a kid. Wigan was probably the last stop for me, you never know how close you are to the point where you can drop away.

"We were talking about another lad who was a really good player in youth teams and didn't make it but he was better than me.

"It's mad, the different paths your life can take. I know how lucky I am. There is a fine line and I was lucky enough to make it. That's why I will always have a massive feeling for Wigan and the people there. They did so much for me."
