Everton fullback Leighton Baines insists he's not disappointed missing a move to Manchester United.
While a switch to Old Trafford never materialised, Baines has admitted that he harbours aspirations of playing at the highest level.
Baines said: "I just try not to take the speculation on too much, to be honest.
"It's been like that the last two or three windows where there's been different bits, but this summer there was probably a little bit more than previously.
"There's nothing you can do but get on with your job. We're very lucky and blessed to do the job that we do and be in the profession we're in so I just stay focused on that. I pretty much ignored it. You can't affect it. It was to the point where people were asking me and yet I didn't know anything.
"It was getting mentioned that often that I was getting puzzled by it and yet I'd heard nothing. As far as I knew, there was not a great deal in it. You want to get to the highest level you can and keep doing my best in the hope that it comes.
"The main thing in football at club level is the Champions League which is always going to be an ambition and if you can do that it strengthens your chances at international level. That's one of the main aims and obviously to win a trophy at some point. We've had a couple of good cup runs at Everton.
"We lost in a cup final a few years ago and lost in a semi-final to Liverpool so we know it's not beyond us."
