Everton fullback Leighton Baines says he's now overcome his self-doubts.
As an 18-year-old, he had been afraid to tell his first club, Wigan Athletic, that he had become a father, fearing they would be unhappy with his domestic life.
Even when he moved to Everton and was being praised as a top player, he told the Sunday Times: "There's a little voice at the back of my mind and it says, 'It's only a matter of time before they realise you're nothing of the sort'." The voice has gone now.
"You get a bit older and relaxed about who you are and what you are doing. There is no point constantly looking over your shoulder," he says. "I'm 27 now. Have no regrets, just go for it."
