Everton fullback Leighton Baines admits one of his former teammates has had a big influence on his success.

Baines acknowledges the debt he owes to his former teammate, the Manchester City centre-back Joleon Lescott.

"He changed me in terms of my mentality," Baines told the Sunday Times. "He is a really strong, tough fella and he showed me a different way. Probably because of him I worked a lot harder. I owe him a lot without him actually sitting me down and saying anything."
