Everton fullback Leighton Baines is happy to kickoff the season now at home to QPR.
David Moyes' side will now keep sharp with a friendly against Irish Premier League side Bohemians on Monday before making their Premier League bow against newly-promoted QPR on August 20.
And Baines told evertontv: "Your first home game is always a bit of a moment and with it now being our first home game of the season it is something of a consolation for us having missed out this weekend. I am sure there will be a great atmosphere for that one.
"We were waiting on the news and, like everyone else, just sort of hoping it would be on. The start of the Premier League season is exciting so we were disappointed to hear we were not going to be involved.
"But when you put everything into perspective then the authorities have made the right decision. Football is not the most important thing and the game will be replayed at some point when everything has settled down."
