Everton failed with late bid for Fiorentina winger Cerci

Everton missed out on Fiorentina winger Alessio Cerci on deadline day.

Cerci, who is admired by Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, had been made available by Fiorentina in the final days of the market after falling out with coach Delio Rossi.

TMW says Everton worked right to the final minutes of the winter transfer window to sign Cerci, but ran out of time.

Everton turned to Cerci after Bayern Munich blocked a move for Daniejl Pranjic.
