Everton boss Roberto Martinez's plans to land Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady are under threat.
Izvestia says Everton are keen to bring McGeady to the Premier League this summer and have received encouragement from the player's camp.
However, Zenit St Petersburg have stepped in this week with a contract offer worth €3.5 million-a-year - plus bonuses.
Zenit's deal far outstrips what Everton have tabled, but Martinez is banking on McGeady's ambition to play in England to swing the deal in their favour.
