The race for FC Groningen defender Virgil van Dijk is heating up.

Newcastle United, Sunderland, Everton and Brighton are all keen on the 21 year-old stopper, who has also been contacted by Cardiff City.

Cardiff have told Van Dijk they will sign him should they win promotion, though will face stiff competition.

Van Dijk, himself, has confirmed the interest of Everton.
