Everton drop out of running for Stoke target Owen

Everton have dropped their pursuit of released Manchester United striker Michael Owen.

The Mail on Sunday says Everton have ruled out a bid for the former Liverpool, Manchester United and England star Owen.

The striker, 32, released by Sir Alex Ferguson this summer, fancies a top-flight club in the north-west.

The terms of Stoke's pay-as-you-play offer are short of what his advisers want.
