Everton defender Phil Jagielka is ready for his battle tonight against Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse.

Jagielka says clashing with Cisse is the sort of challenge he loves.

Speaking to evertontv, the centre back said: "Newcastle are up there competing and had a fantastic campaign last season.

"We love playing the night games - it's a special atmosphere. Games between us and them are normally quite close and I am sure it will be another fantastic night at Goodison."

On the Senegalese striker, he added: "Cisse took all the plaudits when he arrived with the goals he scored. Demba Ba led the way before he came so it was two great signings for them.

"So you want to be playing against these guys who are expected to score goals for fun because of you stop them it breeds confidence. Myself and the rest of the defenders prefer to play against those who everyone has come to watch."
