Everton defender Distin offers no excuses for Benfica humiliation

Everton defender Sylvain Distin says there's no excuses after their 5-0 thrashing at Europa League opponents Benfica.

The defender has spoken honestly about the defeat in Portugal and says that while injuries played a part, the players must accept some of the blame.

"The score reflected the game," he told evertonTV. "We didn't play well and Benfica are a really good team. We had lots of injuries but that's not an excuse.

"We have the quality in the squad to perform better than that. We made some mistakes and you have to give them (Benfica) some credit."
