Everton defender Sylvain Distin has been impressed by young teammate John Stones.

The fullback was outstanding against Juventus this week.

Distin told evertontv: "I think he had a great game. I saw him a bit last season because he started training with us and I thought already he had shown some good qualities. And today I think he confirmed that.

"He's got a bright future if he carries on like that. He's got the right mentality as well, which is very, very important - nearly as important as the football quality.

"You need to be focused and have the right mentality and that's what he's got."
