Everton defender Ashley Williams: Mmm, so how will Lyon fans welcome me?

Everton defender Ashley Williams is ready for their Europa League clash at Lyon tonight.

Williams sparked the brawl for the first game at Goodison Park last week when shoving OL goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Asked about his anticipated reception by Lyon fans, Williams was relaxed.

"I thought someone would ask that," he said.

“I don't mind, it's just football and in the last game it was a lot of nothing, emotions were running high, that happens, and you just get on with it.

“I don't know what their reaction will be but I will just try and do my job as the best I can and try and win the game.

“I've been in football long enough to not let something like that effect me."

Williams assured Everton fans the players know they owe them a performance tonight.

“We definitely have a point to prove but not so much to those outside the club but as team-mates, the results show we have let each other down so far.

“It's important we continue to work hard for each other and we feel we can turn it around, do what the manager asks of us and start to get some wins.

“The fans pay a lot of money to come and watch us, home and away, and we owe them as well.

“We don't worry too much about what anyone else thinks, it's about staying strong together, working together."
