QPR midfielder Joey Barton has refused to throw in the towel in the relegation battle after the club’s 2-1 defeat to Everton.
Barton also believes that the R’s were the better team in their clash against Everton.
Barton said: “They haven’t been in the game really. You struggle to recall a prolonged period where we are defensively stretched or under the cosh or Rob Green has had to produce save after save. It just hasn’t happened and yet they have still won the game.”
QPR hit the woodwork twice in the second half and have far more attempts as compared to the Merseyside club.
Barton though refused to blame bad luck, adding: “I am a strong believer that the league table doesn’t lie over the course of the season. You do get rubs of the green here and there and it tends to go a little bit for you when you are pushing up the higher echelons of the table.
“But we are still in the fight, we still have a puncher’s chance. We have still got eight games and many of them are winnable. If we go down, yesterday’s performance won’t be the thing that sends us down.”
