Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that the club is taking a cautious approach with Leighton Baines as he continues to struggle with a long-term ankle problem.
The 31-year-old, who has undergone two operations during the past year to sort out the issue, made his first appearance in more than a month in the midweek win over Aston Villa.
The England international is currently able to play through a pain barrier, but he is expected to see a specialist to resolve his injury troubles.
"Leighton has a little niggle in his ankle and we have to get that right," said Martinez ahead of the weekend's clash with West Ham United.
"Since the surgery, he's had a little soreness and managing that pain has been difficult.
"He had to play through the pain against Aston Villa and we have to solve that problem.
"He will see a specialist, but it won't stop him from training.
"We need to make sure that final step is well treated. He is available for the weekend."
