Everton have joined the battle for Sampdoria wing-back Reto Ziegler.
Ziegler has been linked with a number of clubs as a potential January target, and Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is thought to be one of the interested parties.
A player with Premier League experience through his time with Tottenham Hotspur, the Reds are thought to see Ziegler as excellent competition to Paul Konchesky for a starting spot at Anfield.
Milan are thought to be favourites for the player though, with Massimiliano Allegri already thought to have approached their Serie 'A' counterparts over a potential January switch.
Toffees boss David Moyes is also keen to strengthen his defensive options in the opening month of 2011, with 24-year-old Ziegler available on the cheap due to his contract running out in the summer.
