Everton coach Sheedy expects McCarthy, Coleman to only leave for "stupid" money

Everton youth coach Kevin Sheedy expects James McCarthy and Seamus Coleman to stay beyond the January market.

The Irish duo have been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

But Sheedy told the Sunday World: "James and Seamus are vital players in the Everton team and they were two of the primary reasons why we went so close to getting into the Champions League last season.

"I don't see any reason why there is a danger that they would leave Everton, but you look at the move Wilfried Bony has made from Swansea to Man City for £28m this week and it shows that huge sums of money can move players these days.

"I'm sure Everton are determined to keep hold of their best players and they have shown that they are not a selling club with additions we have made to the squad in the last couple of years, but there is always a possibility that a stupid offer can change things quickly."
