Lille defender Bakary Soumaoro is being tracked by Everton.
The Daily Mail says Everton director of football Steve Walsh and chief scout Martyn Glover were at Lille on Wednesday night to watch Soumaoro in action against Nice.
The 25-year-old centre-back is a target for Everton but did not have the best of games as a Lille side short on confidence laboured to a point.
Manager Sam Allardyce wants to strengthen through the spine of his side and add a left-back or left-sided defender.
Porto's Ivan Marcano remains another option, as does West Brom's Jonny Evans.
