Everton chairman Kenwright: I've told David not to try for Baines

Everton are determined to keep hold of Manchester United target Leighton Baines.

The Daily Mail says Roberto Martinez, is determined to keep the 28-year-old, who he values at £20m and is pivotal to his plans. The club are poised to offer the England left back a bumper new contract worth around £70,000 per week.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright underlined the club's resolve over Baines when he said: "Leighton is under contract and I've told David (Moyes) not to come back for him, although there is nothing to stop him. He knows we want him to stay."
