Everton chairman Bill Kenwright was always confident of securing Andy Johnson to a new contract.
"He didn't really want to go anywhere, but there were a lot of other clubs supposedly interested in him and why wouldn't they be because he's done well for us and I'm sure will go on to even greater things."
Johnson's improved contract means his wages are now at the same level as Joseph Yobo, Mikel Arteta and Tim Cahill, who have also signed new deals this season.
