Everton cash problems wreck Lonergan deal

Everton's money problems wrecked the signing of Preston North End goalkeeper Andy Lonergan.

The People says Everton boss David Moyes hit a snag over £50,000 as he tries to sign old boy Lonergan from Preston.

Moyes wanted Lonergan as his No.2 and slapped in a £100,000 offer to North End, where he gave the shot-stopper his debut a decade ago.

However, Bill Kenwright has refused to finalise the move because Preston supremo Maurice Lindsay wanted a further 50 per cent on top.
