Everton caretaker Unsworth: Make-or-break games don't scare me - just look at my selection

Everton caretaker manager David Unsworth recognises tonight's Europa League tie with Lyon could be his final chance of landing the job fulltime.

Unsworth has so far experienced two defeats in his two games in charge, though is expected to remain in charge of Sunday's game with Watford.

"But that doesn't scare me, because I know the game, and I know that in the end you will be judged, I know, on performances – and I think performances have improved for a game and a half, certainly second half against Leicester – but within those performances, you've got to try and dig out some results, so I want to win the game tomorrow, I want to perform, and Sunday's a massive game as well," Unsworth said.

“Sunday's a cup final for me and I think we've got to play it like a cup final, I certainly want the players to play it like a cup final."

Unsworth won't play a full-strength team tonight, despite him needing a win to strengthen his case for the job.

"None of us have a crystal ball, and none of us can predict.

“I've brought a squad here who I believe in; I know my team already, and I think it's a team that can challenge and get a result.

“You can't play God and you don't have a crystal ball, but I certainly picked the strongest team I think can go and win the game, but you do have to be clever, and you do have to try to have one eye on [squad rotation] when the games have come so thick and fast."
