Everton captain Phil Jagielka says he's ready to fight for his place this season.

Jagielka is the club's oldest player, but shows no intention of slowing down any time soon.

He told evertonfc.com: “I've been at Everton 11 years now and it's gone really quickly.

“But I've got a lot of pride at being at such a great club for such a length of time. I still love it here. “I still have a lot more to give and I want to prove I'm able to play at the top.

“We're all pushing for a spot in the squad and the team and it's important to have that competition for places."
