Everton captain Jagielka knows significance of derby win

Everton skipper Phil Jagielka knows the significance of a derby win today at Liverpool.

Jagielka says an Everton victory at Anfield on Saturday would eclipse the 1-0 win at Manchester United last season.

"I think it probably would," said Jagielka. "But we don't want to give it that much thought to be honest.

"It is a local derby and we all know how desperate we are to win there but we don't want to go there and purely think about records.

"I've always been desperate to win every time we've been to Anfield and after the results we've had in the past, the feeling on the coach afterwards is not a nice feeling.

"We're all desperate to win and if I'm captain at the time when we do get that win, then that is an added bonus but it's all about the team performing to a decent level.

"I think we've done that for long periods of most of the games so far but we need to do that for a bit longer to get the results we've perhaps deserved."
