Everton boss Marco Silva is happy the club refused to sell Ademola Lookman to RB Leipzig this summer.
Everton have struggled to keep their best players in recent years, with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley, John Stones, Jack Rodwell and even Wayne Rooney 15 years ago examples of young stars who got tempted away.
But Silva said: "You think it was a very good offer? I disagree completely with the offer, but it is not my job to talk about the money.
“We have to be strong and keep our idea what we want. It is not just Lookman, it is all of them. We have to keep the players we believe we can develop and help our squad.
“It is really hard for us to buy players and the other clubs, they have to understand that they have to respect the value of players. I am not talking just about Lookman."
Silva insisted there have been NO promises to the 20-year-old winger – or any other members of his squad about playing time.
“I don't do promises to nobody," the manager said. First they know and they understand that if we keep them it is because we believe in the quality and that he can help us.
“But from us about whether they play, They have to prove day by day they can play."
