Everton boss Silva delighted with Pickford for penalty save

Everton boss Marco Silva was full of praise for goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after his penalty save for victory over Crystal Palace.

Pickford made his third penalty save as an Everton goalkeeper – diving to his left but blocking Luka Milivojevic's shot with his trailing boot to spark a raucous crowd reaction.

Silva explained: “He has this quality, he has this profile.

“He is solid in this moment and can keep calm at the moment to take the right decision.

“And it was an important moment in the match. I think at the end if we analyse the match we deserved the three points.

“It was better second half than the first. In the first half we didn't play as we wanted and of course Crystal Palace came here to keep their organisation. Their 4-4-2 was good, medium low block, and at that moment we had to play faster just to create one chance.

“But the second half was different. We created more chances, had a big number of corners as well and at the end we scored twice and deserved the three points."
